Right since getting the Ultima on the road I am getting bored. hopefully the next round of updates for the Ultima will commence in a few weeks time but in the mean time I have a plan (O no not another one  Grin)

One idea I have been playing around with is a dash conversion.

The problem with the Mk1 is the outside/shape  look's good but the dash looks a bit dated and I feel it could do with a bit of a makeover.

Now I have managed to get hold of a complete MK2 dash including top and bottom half, lower console and all other assosiated bits and bobs  to go with it for a whooping £50.

Now I can't see any major obsticles but does anyone know if a MK2 dash will fit in a MK1.  Huh?

I know a few components have diffrent locations like switches but that can be overcome the main concern is mounting and space.

Any help and advice is as always much appreciated.

It seems feasible Dave but it looks like youre the guinea pig on this one.

I cant speak about the Galaxy , but we did a similar thing years ago on my sisters XR3i cabby . It was one of the last MK3s  and we converted it to a MK4 with all the panels and later interior .
The dash was a real pain as none of the mk4 mounting points lined up to the mk3s , so we had to weld brackets in to mount it correctly .We thought it wouldve been an easy job , but it wasnt .

Some fabrication may be needed in your case .

Not much at the mo

My mate at the scrappy has the MK2 Gal sitting in the rack it can't be touched at the mo because it subject to police investigation and insurance so I can't get to it yet and when I can i will be allowed to strip the dash and take all the parts I need.
Now if my research is correct and it can be done I will be allowed all day Saturday and Sunday at the scrappy when they are closed park my one next to it and swap it over bit by bit so I can see whats what.
