Title: N/S OF GAL TAKEN OUT
Post by: mac the knife on January 21, 2008, 09:27:21 AM
by an artic this morning at 8am, turning into factory over the road and back end done mirror, 2 doors, rear quarter panel and quarter glass :'( didn't know he had done it, only found out when some nice bloke who witnessed it knocked the door and informed the missus, the most annoying thing is it will go as a claim against my insurance and i will have to mess about getting my £250 excess back :argh: anyway the main thing is there was no one hurt and you can always buy another car, will let you know how i get on and what really small car they try and fob me off with, i guess it will be a corsa or clio ::)

forgot to add that the driver held his hands up to it although didn't realise he had damaged the Gal, spoke to chriss knott and have been informed that as i was not at fault it will not go against me as a claim and the company who will sort it out with other insurer will also sort out the excess charge for me as well , so hopefully not to much messing about :goodjob:

Cheers mate, the way i posted made it look like the driver just done one, he was in fact sitting in his cab in the yard opposite my house and was oblivious to the fact that he had done the damage, nice bloke he was though never tried it on and had all his details for me in a jiffy, i was quite surprised how calm i was about it all , but when you look at it anyone and everyone make mistakes and that's all it was really.

Thanks , could have been both of us in a corsa/clio  :scream: personally as there are so many cars on the road today i think they should raise the driving age to 21 ;)

Well awty i,m expecting something along the same lines eventually  ,phoned insurance company @ 9am yesterday to inform them , they in turn pass it onto a compamny called "hirehelp"who deal with the claim and sort out your repairs and courtesy car , had to phone them @ 1pm yesterday afternoon, and again at about 6.30 pm(such a large gap between calls as i am on nights so was getting some kip)told them that i still hadn't recieved phone call, told them that although the car was driveable it was not secure as the rear quarter glass was broke, was told that someone would phone before 8pm , you guessed it right people  :bang: . So after finishing nights i have had to come home stay up and take missus to work , got to bed at 9am instead of 7am :argh: woke up at 1.30pm still no call recieved past the 24 hr mark and very not happy, phoned them up and spoke to  a young woman who said she had spoken to her team leader who was making it a priority and if i hadn't heard from them in an hour to phone back!!!
So i have phoned up Chris knott to voice my displeasure at the service i have recieved or should i say lack of it, i will add that the service from chris knott end was fine and that it is the company they use seem to be failing somewhat spectacularly.............................. watch this space

A very tired and p*ssed off
Ray

Ok update, they phoned me at about 3.10pm and there was so much legal jargon and this and that the bloke at the other end was churning out so much data that i just said yes to everything ::) ;D the lomg and short of it is

courtesy car to be delivered tomorrow and it's going to be a seven seater  result there then, very confusing the way insurance works nowadays, used to be pick up phone and give details and away you go ,now it's all gobbledy gook and technical /legal stuff, when asking about my Gal asked me why did i have such a car ??? i think this is all to do with justifying charging the other insurance company so much, anyway car goes in for repair locally, will keep you updated  off to get some zzzzzzssssssssss

Stick with it mate  ;)
At the end of the day it was not your fault..
whereas with mine i just cut a corner and drove
straight into a guy who was coming the other way
so 110% my fault....Tesco insurance (my people)
just did everything and quickly too!!!!!!!!
Enterprise were the disapointing side...........
very unhelpful (at the time i was a car rental manager!!!)

sorry to hear this mate, a girl i do photography work with stays opposite a factory and they quite regularly hit the cars outside their house, usually at least one car a month hit in the street :(

Although saying that i have a mate that drives a HGV for Tesco, says he was going up the M90 when he heard a "clink" like you'd flicked a metal pen etc, then looked in his mirrors to see a car spinning off the road, pulled into the layby to find the guy had been speeding out the slip road onto the motorway hadn't looked in his mirrors and had hit the HGV, been spun off into the verge and a lot of damage to his full drivers side. They really are so big and protected they genuinely don't notice hitting things.

can someone show steer me in the right direction as how to post pics of my Gal damage please as i am stumped and a bit pc thick ::) , anyway got me coutesy ca=r and it is a mitsubishi Grandis 7 seater with quite a few gadgets, 2 sunroofs, vents all along the headlining for rear pass with own controls with aircon if selected, traction, a button to make the engine warm up, bit like the jet engine on the Gal but not the same if you know what i mean, all these gadgets but no parking sensors ??? which when  i pointed out to the missus i got a filthy look ::)  only 4 k miles on the clock, leather/plastic seats, still not a better drive than the Gal but is a decent motor, you will see at the Birthday bash

you can attach pic by clicking on the additional options at the bottom left just under the reply window then click the browse button, which will bring up a choose a file window then click on the pic you want to attach if there is more than one pic at the side of the browse button there is (more attatchments) click this and repeat the process for each pic you have then click post
hope this helps

Ouch! Ray, I'm gutted for you! Don't know whether I'd cry, explode, or go on a killing spree if I ever had that happen to mine!

It'll all come clean in the wash though, thankfully, and it'll be good prodding round your hire car at the BB!

Title: Re: N/S OF GAL TAKEN OUT

Well i have to say that after Driving the mitsubishi for a couple of days now i am starting to like it quite a lot ,although it is an ugly beast to the eye the inside is rather nice, the seats are very comfy and it is quite a bit more spacious than the Gal, the seats are middle row , 1 single and a 2 seater bench type the rear two are singles not sure if they come out, the rear tailgate entrance is lipped like a boot , the dash layout not bad , radio/cd is 100% shi*e  ::),the steering wheel is to thin to the grip, 4 leccy windows, anyway as you say you van give it a good going over at the BB, the thing i like the most about it is it corners very well , looking at the wheels and the spec i believe it may be near top of the range ;D

Well i'm not having the best of times lately >:( some Ba$%83d has keyed the rear passenger door on the hire car :bang:, not to bad as one of the paintshop boys at work rubbed it down and buffed it and took out 95% of the scratch , i will have to get some of that coloured T-cut and see if that will finnish the job off, luckily for me it wasn't to deep  :goodjob: oh well wonder what lies round the corner next , 6 lotto numbers me hopes

spoke to the repairs shop today and spoke to the gaffer and asked him about blowing in the rest and his words "well without even looking at it your looking at least £1000, so as the galaxy is in goodish nick i shall give that a miss, although he said he would have a look round it and give me a price to do touch ups and dings, let's hope he's got his generous head on, about 10-12 days for the car to be finished

not to bad mate, have grown to like it actually ,it is better at cornering than than the Gal and is also 20bhp better but can't really notice it but i think that could be down to the fact it has only done 4500 miles and is not run in yet, took it on motorway sunday only for a short trip but it was very comfy, you can have a good looksy on saturday ;D ;)

Well the the paintjob looks good, just sprayed the ends of bumpers as someone alreday highlighted, now the problems :argh: the rear door replaced now is stiff to shut and you can see the gaps are to big towards the wheel arch and to to tight to the front door, the large locking ring on door loom rubber broken and flopping about >:( and when i got into  the car the passenger seat furthest back was not located in , so another day lost somewhere in the near future but great to have her back, Daz if you trawl this post could you let me know how the locking ring fixes into the door please ;) off out now for a few black ones ::)

I would of been more worried if the paint was not good!!

Title: Re: N/S OF GAL TAKEN OUT

Will be defo taking it back , had a good shufty at it today and it's poor repairs all round

1. front door paint runs under the handle
2.quoted for new  door mouldings and left the old ones on
3.Gaps where they have refitted the door handles
4.Door card on rear not fitted properly and clips broken
they have qouted for new door moulings and fitted the old one on the rear, they left the repair sheet and parts bill from ford in the car so i will be talking to the insururers tomorrow if they are open and will give them all the info and see if i can have the jap wagon back while they tidy up the shite they have sent me, as you can tell i'm not a happy bunny :argh: just about had it with this now , there are not many people out there who seem to care about there workmanship anymore

I had BIG issues with mine a couple of years back,  he was a good mate
of mine who i sent loads of work too.  He did a **** job on mine, took my
Wonga and to this day i have not spoken to him or sent him any work!!
He told me "leave it with me and i will be in touch!"

Hope ya get it sorted dude,  as i said before you want it right...... :-\

I don't think Chris Knott are open tomorrow Ray, but try them on Monday and let us know what they say. If you're not getting anywhere then let me or James know and we'll put some pressure on them. It's all well and good saving money on your insurance through the club scheme, but no good if they aren't going to deliver when you need them most. I take it the garage was one appointed by the underwriters?

Title: Re: N/S OF GAL TAKEN OUT
Post by: mac the knife on March 02, 2008, 03:11:24 PM
Yes it was mate, runs on the front wing also, a part of the door card left in the car, another part broken that i can see when i pull back the very poorly refitted front card, the two screw covers for the door mirror are missing, overall a very very shoddy piece of work indeed, i shall just get in touch with the insurers and let them sort it out and tell them in no uncertain terms that i want another hire car while they get this sorted and ask them to ask the repairers why are qouting to replace parts and are not doing so, says on the repair list remove and refit rear bumper, not done, very very pissed off at the moment :'( :'( suppose i'll have to have a few black ones tonight to try and calm myself down

Hi dont forget to take pics of bits you are unhappy with and if you speak to the bodyshop take a witness, I had a bad experiance with a bodyshop some years ago and did not have a leg to stand on as they said the car could have been damaged during the week i had it back.

Hope you get it sorted and hope Chris Knott does not let you down and gives support

That's why i will ask the insurance company to send an assessor out to look at the vehicle first, they won't be able to fob me off with any damage as it's mainly poor workmanship that's the problem, if i have problems i'll take up the offer from Cepheus who said he will get in touch with Chriss Knott

Update, spoke to the repair shop manager and told him i was very unhappy with the way it was sent out to me, told him i ws going to phone insurance and ask them to not collect hire car he was very keen for me not to and had his drivers pick up Gal from missus at work and dropped off the mitsubishi, we'll see how good it is next time ::) i think somehow it will be a lot better (hopefully :dunno:) will keep you updated

Title: Re: N/S OF GAL TAKEN OUT

Hopefully it'll be sorted quickly for you then Ray. If it were me I'd get the Gal looking as it should do but then still speak to Chris Knott about it - if an insurance approved repairers is pushing out shit like it sounds, then they shouldn't be insurance approved :whack:

Update, phoned up to speak to  Richard ::) to ask about Gal and was told he was not available , the girl on the phone said " i have been told we are waiting for some door mouldings" ::) would they be the new door mouldings that should have been fitted first time round ::) someone is going to be embarrassed and i don't htink it's me  ;) will pop round on friday morning unannounced and see if i can see what's going on, hope they haven't had a crash in it on the way back to the sprayshop  the way my lucks been lately i wouldn't be surprised ;D :D

Seems like they are trying to do what they should have done first time round! ::) Still disappointing that there was ever a second time round! Fingers crossed it's all sorted to your satisfaction soon Ray! :)

Title: Re: N/S OF GAL TAKEN OUT
Post by: mac the knife on March 14, 2008, 06:40:44 AM
Update, picked the car up last friday and it's still shi*e,still a run on the door although the paintwoork is better

1. locking ring for rear harness now been bodged
2.have scratched the window that i had tinted last year
3.door cards have now been stuck to the door on the bottom with some kind of black sealant
4.rear door still misaligned (not as bad)
5.car not valeted and full of dust, when i pointed this out they said it was my fault because i wanted the car back
so i have got an independent assessor coming out today to have a shufty, i'll keep you updated if you are bothered anymore because i know i'm getting well bored with it myself now :argh:

Ray, I'll wait til after 09:00 and I'll be speaking to Chris Knott about this as I'm not having any of the members being treated like this through something that the club has promoted. We're not putting our name to something that isn't up to standard. As I said previously, it's all well and good saving money, but if the service that's going to be provided isn't good enough then what's the point?  >:( :bang:

Ray as Dave said please keep us updated, we all hope you get this mess sorted out mate.  ;)

It makes you wonder how companies like that actually keep in business.  :bang: :whack:

Title: Re: N/S OF GAL TAKEN OUT
Post by: Paul on March 14, 2008, 09:30:50 AM
Ray, Chris Knott are going to speak to the claims manager at your underwriters now and highlight the problems to him. He'll then get in touch with the garage and get it all sorted for you. Bear in mind that now that they have had 2 opportunities to do the job properly, you are more than entitled to demand that your car be taken elsewhere for a different garage to do the work as you are not confident inthe current garage's abilities. ;)

I've asked that the claims manager contact you direct to keep you informed with what's going on (and explained that you also work nights so need things doing at your convenience not theirs) Let me know if you have any more problems and I can be back on to them.

assessor came out and looked over the car and agreed not up to standard , he asked me to get the car back to the repairer and told me that he would personally check the car over before he would let it leave the workshop, reluctantly i have agreed to do this only because the assessor has assured me the work will be right, Cepheus i spoke to chris knott 5 mins ago and i was told of a complaint being made from the Club , it's a shame this has come to this but i would not lay any blame at chris knott's door as they hav been nothing less than brilliant with dealing with this matter so Dave 727 fear not on the insurance side ;), also had the repairer on the phone this morning after he had had what he said was a right bollocking off the assessor ::) it was quite sad really as he actually begged me to let them have the car back and i mean begged (soft touch me) also promised me the car would be valeted by an outside company and he is going to have to hire me a car, if it's not right this time i think he will lose any contracts/repairs with insurance , the most annoying thing about this whole thing is i was in bed  3 parts pissed from the night before :crazy:when the artic done the damage, anyway thanks all for your support during this mini crisis :grouphug: :thankyou:

At the end of the day, if you'd have insured elsewhere you may not be having these problems, so it's only right that we and Chris Knott do all we can to put things right.

Good, they should anyway!!

Thanks Cepheus for the phone call, i,m sure they have laid down the law as they must be getting a fair bit of wonga from this club and other people we have recommended who are not Gal owners, it's strange how insurance works these days ???
1.insure with chriss knott who get you insured though
2. Highway Insurance who use
3.helphire who sort out hire car and repairers ::) what happened to the old way when you phoned insurerer and they sent out their own assessor to the garage, oh well i'm sure life will throw bigger problems at me soon with 3 lads and the eldest being 14 going on 30!!!!!

watch this space

Have you had any update your end Ray?Is the Gal back with you or have you had an expected due date?

I've heard from Chris Knott that Highway have changed their use of Helphire to handle their clients repairs:

"I apologise for the handling of the clients repairs by Helphire. We have started utilising the services of Car Crash Line who we are monitoring closely as we feel they can provide a more customer focused approach to your clients needs."

I know it is no consolation to you at this point, Ray, but at least they realise that things weren't up to scratch and are trying to stop it happening again.

Gal will be back in the week, looks like it's going to cost helphire some work and the repairer his reputation and probally some work for him also  ::) but if you send a car out twice and it's still not right then hard luck, have had the car now in total about 8/9 weeks, at least the mileage will be down this year ::)told them when car is to be valeted not to steam clean the engine ,don't want anymore probs with it, thanks for your help with this lads, will post some pics when gal is back, should be ok when it comes back as the assessor told me he will personally inspect the car before it is let go :P sounds familiar ;D
