Treated myself at xmas to a new iPod, been looking around for a car adaptor for it but either sold out (did everyone get an iPod this year?Huh?) or just crap Sad So thought about getting a new H/U with iPod connection included..

Had a look at a few but I'm liking the look of this one Pioneer DEH-P85BT as it has the added bonus of bluetooth with handsfree so no more wearing the daft headset I've got!

Whats anyone think??  Went to the manchester branch of the shop in the link and they've said they'll actually fit it all (inc route the ipod cable to the glove box) for £240 all in.  But thats got me thinking...  I've currently got a Sony H/U (rescued from my old mondeo) fitted but I've always wondered could the little cubby hole under the stereo be moved up?  Or does it only fit in the lower position??  I'm just wondering as I've always thought it was an awkward spot when the cup holders are used..

Yup wiring to the sony was just adapted...  Had 2 cars previously butchered by a "mates mate" who installed stereos.. so learnt that lesson the hard way!...  I must admit I've now found it for about 200 on ebay brand new so diy'ing the install is perhaps looking worthwhile..

Hmm hang on.. J you mentioned faceplate..  are you assuming it's just a blanking plate??  Or do you mean the storage tray?...  (Just thought i'd check before I go digging the sony keys out of the safe place i put them... *ahem*)

Ah DOH!... Sorry my fault.. cubby hole/pocket/storage tray.. I'll turn the lancashire to english translator on next time  Grin

I've a funny feeling (and perhaps you might be able to confirm it J?) i tried to move the "pocket" when i fitted the sony but either it wouldn't budge or it just wouldn't work..  Can't remember now! Sad

I do have that tray fitted...  One of the reasons for wanting to move it as well is, rather than putting the ipod in the glove box I was thinking why not drill out the back of the tray and put it in there (less chance of me forgetting to take it with me as well! Sad )

I suppose the question is.. if it "prises out" does it just clip back in in the current stereo slot....  I've had a dig and found the radio keys..  If it's quiet at work tomorrow I think I may excuse myself to the carpark for a while Wink *ahem*

No, no mounting plate for the pod (yet) was thinking of just leaving it in the pocket after plugging the lead in.  I leave my mobile in there at the mo and even with some *ahem* traffic light gp hijinx I've never managed to launch the mobile so I'd guess it should be ok (as long as I leave the hole for the ipod cable small so it doesn't disappear behind the dash).

Just been reading that some ipod accessories don't work (or don't work properly) with the new ipod classic.  So I need to ring pioneer tomorrow and check otherwise it could all be a bit pointless..   If the pioneer doesn't work with the classic then I might go ahead and change the position anyway as i always thought the pocket where it was seemed a bit daft..
