We have an Elddis wisp 510cd which weighs in at 1050kg fully loaded.  Now on our 3rd year caravaning and started off in 2005, with 1979 2 berth stirling which let more water in the it kept out Cheesy  It was still 100% more comfy than the tent though Wink Cheesy

THis is the old stirling, which was never pulled by the galaxy

And this is the wisp with Frank after the first time it towed it.

I've got a twin axle Bailey Senator which I tow with my 4.6 Range Rover and also this year will have my 5.7 ltr Chevy Day van fitted with a tow bar and oil cooler to do the American car shows with.

I'm not sure the galaxy would be up to it (definately not yet as it cant pull the skin off a rice pud! Grin

Well Guys i dont know where you heard that the Gal cant pull a skin of a rice pudding, my 110 Gal pulls my 1999 Elddis Crusader super storm with now problems, i have had four Range rovers before it and a dicovery three of which were diesel and the last Range was 4.6 gas/petrol, all pulled my twin axle vans of which i am on my fifth now without any problems exept for my wallet running dry very quick, The Gal tows my van just as well on the road ( not to sure footed on the fields) but does about 30 mpg, my last Range did "9", i have just fitted a PSP power chip over chrismas and looking forward to towing and seeing some improvment from that.

Cheers for now Colin

Colin, I think you are referring to Rayc's comment. At present, he is having an issue with his performance which is why he stated that. I am sure when we have it fixed (and we will!) he will be more than happy with it.

As for my towing, only once on a trip to Ireland. Roof box, trailer and six occupants........a doddle!

I left my tow rope hanging out of the boot once, does this count?

I've actually NEVER towed anything in any car I've owned. We are thinking about getting a caravan though to graduate from tent holidays so will start to pick the knowledge base when the time comes round Wink

As Daz says. I dont know about the Galaxy yet as it wont pull the skin off a rice pudding. I'm having a wonderful time (asis Daz) trying to suss out why the old girl is running a wee bit sick at the mom. It's currently doing less to the gallon than my range rover Grin
I'm hoping once sussed the old girl will prove herself the all rounder that I'm sure it is. Not knocking Galaxy's as I wouldn't have bought one if I thought they weren't up to the job! Grin My 4.6 does 16mpg towing the van and 24 ish when solo so I cant really complain. Current;y the galaxy is doing 19 mpg on a run and 9mpg when driving up hills (115 tdi) with a top speed of 50mph unless it's downhill when I can get 70 Grin

We graduated from normal tents, to frame tent.. Now on a trailer tent with the idea of switching to a folding camper rather than a caravan, purely on the issue of nowhere to store a caravan...

Hi,
I tow a 1991 Abbey GTS 516, weighs in at 1200Kg. Have towed it with a Rover 820 Si, and a Hyundai Sonata 3 litre, both autos. Both gave similar economy(?) when towing of about 14 mpg.
The gal is also auto, tows a lot better than either of the previous cars, and returns 24 to 26 mpg towing, averages 33 mpg on mixed runs of local and distance. Best economy figure ever was 72 mpg when I had it towed to the garage to have petrol drained out of the diesel (senior moment), cost me £84 :'(
The economy when towing is not much worse than either of the other two were when solo.
Cannot believe performances of over 33 mpg towing, unless it is all downhill in that area Shocked Have a friend with a Peugeot 607, which returns similar figures to mine.
Get better economy towing in hilly areas by using the manual mode on the 'box.
Happy towing for 2008.
