Factory fit grills are glued to the door card and can be removed by breaking them off gently.

The new speakers screw into the door metalwork behind the card and as there is a gap betwwen the card and door I just screwed the grills into the door card

Thanks Dave, i was wondering how to deal with the gap Smiley

I did get the glued on bit as i had to break off part of one after the buggy incident.

i'm looking at these - http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/series-elite-p-5908.html which seem pretty reasonable for 3 way speakers and from the reviews i can find look good.

Are they for the rear doors Tom ?

You do realise that it just had a new set of Sonys fitted in the front just days before you got the car , dont you ?

Dave - lol  yeah totally

Gary - i did notice they looked different in the front to the ones in the rear (only on the passenger side) but wasn't aware they were newly fitted.

I'm going to have to replace the grill on the back one and not 100% on whether i'd be happy with the standard grills front and other grills rear.

what sony's are in it?

Not sure of the model number Tom .

They were a set of brand new custom fit 17cm Sonys I bought for her ages ago but never got fitted so I had them put in when the doors were changed.

They didnt have speaker grilles with them though as they were custom fits , meant to go behind the std grilles .

You may find if you decide to replace all the grilles with aftermarket ones , that the fronts are hard to get off , because it had new front ones fitted and I super glued them in place  Big lol

I prefer the stealth look anyway and dont like to advertise the fact ive got expensive speakers fitted , so i would just replace the Ford grilles . They are cheap enough and the new grilles arent brittle like the old ones are

Any other suggestions for Speakers?

i'm kinda in the middle between thinking the sony's must be decent if so many have them and wanting to have something different.

I like the QX Series Elite 6.5's and FLI Audio Integrator Fi6's (i'm pretty tempted with the FLi's as ther FLI trap 12 looks like a nice subwoofer to match Smiley )

Sony has some excellent pieces of kit Tom.

Ive got a full Sony system to go in mine once my alarm is sorted , including some normal 3 ways in the rear doors  which sound fantastic in the Galaxy .

Ive gone for Sony components to go in up front this time which once amped up will sound the mutts im sure . Retail is about £70 ish but I got mine from the States via a friend and they cost me about £45.
