Hello everyone,

Thinking of Superchipping the old Gal, they are quoting a 12Bhp gain and 32 NM torque gain.
Has anyone out there chipped a 2.3? Was the gains noticable?

hi Gaz, only just noticed this post.

I dont think anyone on here has chipped the 2.3 yet.
There are other options, changing the exhaust, air filter etc, which you could look at.
Can you post a link to the one you are looking and maybe other people will comment.

Maybe you could be the FGOC guniea pig for trying it

Just been looking at the Superchips website, they do the bluefin handheld remap for the 2.3 which I would go for over chipping the ECU. The Bluefin plugs into your OBD socket, downloads the original ECU map and uploads the new one over it. If you want to return to the OEM ECU mapping you can reverse the process again just as simply (according to Superchips)

Figures they quote are:

Ford Galaxy
1997 - 2000
Engine type : Non-Turbo Petrol
Engine size : 2295 cm3
Cylinders : 4

Original bhp : 142
Original nm : 203
BHP increase : 12
NM gain : 32
Lb/Ft gain : 24

If you look at the power curve on the superchips website HERE it does seem to give a much better torque delivery at low end which is where you'd see the most difference under acceleration.

For £299 it'd certainly be worth having a go, especially if you added a performance air filter and exhaust system. Could push the 2.3 up to about 175 bhp which would then sh*t all over the MK1 V6 as it's only 0.1 seconds slower 0-60 when standard!
