Washed the car today to discover that both sides and all wheels are covered in LOTS of tar spots Angry All the roads near me have been resurfaced over the last few months so suspect this is where it has all come from.

Can anyone reccommend a good product to easily remove it all? I saw this article from Auto Express (http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/210292/insect_and_tar_removers.html) but wondered if anyone had personal experience of a good one to use?

Thanks

Paul

Not used that to be honest but have used AutoGlyms Tar Remover, this was many years ago.
Done the job from what i remember but failing that T-Cut if a car needs it.

Best thing I always use  is neat petrol gets rid of the spotty buggers in a jiffy  Grin

If using neat petrol don't smoke at the same time as not only will you get rid of the tar spots but also the car aswell  LMAO

Petrol used to be the cheap option!!!!!!
It certainly knocks spots (especialy tar) off well easy..
just make sure you use plenty as a little and loads of scrubbing
can scratch the paint.....whereas if you use a well sodden cloth
and put plenty on you will see the tar start to break down then it
will wipe away...Then apply a nice new layer of polish and a PUKA job done....

Mrs wouldn't trust me with that! She's fed up with me coming in from outside with chisels through my arms, fingers flattened by hammers and other bloody injuries with various power tools - no way she'd let me loose with petrol without a full fire crew on standby LMAO

That would be this incident then Steve -

[ IMAGE NOT SHOWN - GUESTS CANNOT VIEW ATTACHED IMAGES ]

I'd almost forgotten about that! After this many "incidents" of mine, they tend to merge into one long incident - where one stops and another starts is getting confusing!

Have opted for the Halfords own Bug & Tar remover as it was on offer (10% off when you buy online for store collection!) Will pick it up tomorrow and tackle the tar tomorrow night  while in work and do a review once done!

Well, in typical Halfords style, they were out of stock of their own brand product! Settled in the end for a Turtle Wax Tar & Bug remover and will give it a go tonight in the underground at work. On the plus side though, they are still doing the 3 for 2 offer on car care products so got some Meguiars Speed Detailer and Auto Glym Clean Wheels alloy cleaner for £15 ready for the BB! They were also out of stock of the Meguiars Hot Rims alloy cleaner or I'd have got that instead as it's the badger's nadgers.

Oh damn! I wish I'd seen this sooner. Undecided

I've got a bottle of the Turtlewax Tar and Bug remover. It does the job but, is hard work. Try not to get it on your plastic trims.....it dries with white spots. Also, it is like applying a polish and takes a lot of rubbing! (Steady!!) Grin
