I just brought of E-Bay a 7" in dash monitor for my Gal and I need your help fitting it.

Unfortunately it did not come with any manuals or info on wiring and the seller did not have an accurate idea either.

I tried doing a Google search for the make called Super but that drew a blank.

I know about the red, yellow and white RCA plugs

RCA Plugs.

But is the power connections and odd plugs from the rear of the unit I need help with.

12V Plug

The above wire is the 12V power plug, where does this go. Do I just cut the plug of and wire it to a switched live feed OR does it include the earth connection as well.
The reason I ask about the Earth is......

The seller said the above wire is the earth but I don't think it is. All there is to identify it is a label saying 'BACKWARD IN' I think this in fact an aerial wire. But I could be wrong.

If it is indeed an aerial where is the earth as there are no other wires other than the RCA leads.

From the rear of the unit is two sets or white and yellow RCA plugs

What are these for any ideas

And there is also a black box......

It says on the top 'VM-4IN' and the out wire goes to the unit. Again any idea what this is for.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Cheers

i think the 12v plug is for a external power source(ie rear view camera).so when you turn the head unit on,it will power up the external source.if that makes sence dave..
iirc the backward wire needs to be earthed to the handbrake switch, because its against the law to use the headunit while drving  Grin

the yellow and white componet leads(rca).white is audio and yellow is video(so they are gonna be (input or output)

sorry cant be of more help

Urm guys I don't need help now as I won't be fitting this.

Popped into my local maplins this mornming and enquired about the power plug and spoke to there so called in I.C.E expert....,

"Ah yes Sir you need one of these a 5.5mm(diameter) 2.1mm(hole) DC jack plug and fit it like this" the delightfull assistant said

So off I go home, plug into my home DVD player and spare car battery....
what happened nothing well for the first 15 seconds anyway then BANG (and I don't mean pop I mean big bang !!!!) smoke started to come out of the sides and top and a strong smell of burning electrics........  Huh?

Not a good sign so now one dead TV unit  Angry

Same as James said to me last night on the phone it was only £20 so no real loss.

So following James advice I just brought THIS instead.

At least it will come with all the instructions and proper stuff needed.

Thanks for the advice James it was much appreciated now tell me how do I tell the misses I went slightly over the agreed £100 budget... opps     Grin
