Ye godfathers.  What have I started!!!!!!!!! AARRGGHH

Who would have thought that a few tips on fuel economy could cause such controversy. In a light hearted way of course. Big lol Big lol Big lol

It is obvious that you guys have a great rapport with each other and I, as a relative newbie, have never met any of you.  I hope that will all change after FITP and I look forward to meeting you there.  Group hug
Gary,  I give up on No.5. Doesn't make a lot of sense does it?   ooops

I couldn't see how dark and cheeky the driver was as I was struggling to keep out of the ditch.

I can't see why a bigger Espace should be such a turn on for anyone.

Cutting the split end of the cruise vacuum pipe was covered in these pages a few days ago.

Going to bed now.  My 18"s are coming tomorrow.  Can't wait. Thumbs Up

Hey Malcolm ,

Thanks for taking my posts in good humour . Thats exactly how they were meant ,as  a bit of a laugh .
Some Karma  heading your way for that . Wink

The points  you made in your post do make alot of sense and will ultimately reduce fuel consumption if adhered to . I can understand that you are a more sympathetic driver where your Galaxy is concerned , nothing wrong with that  , but please remember that not everyone that drives a modified car quickly is a "boy racer".

Im 43 yrs old and have been there and done that . My boy racing days are over , but I do enjoy driving fast where conditions allow . Again , nothing wrong with that . To be honest I value my licence (25 years held and still clean) and my car and after spending £10k on modifying it , the last thing I want to be doing is being classed in the same boat as little johnny in his souped up chavmobile . Nothing good would come of that.

Anyways , good luck with your 18s and as the other guys have said , dont forget the pictures .
Looking forward to seeing them .

Hi Gary

It seems that thanks to you I now have one Karma point, so it seems like a good time to ask you to explain the Karma aspect of this site as I haven't yet be able to figure it out.  Thanks all the same as I guess it increases my social standing.  Grin

You did say on your first reply that testing your 0-60 is a must.  How do you think your car would fare in a race against mine? Scratch Chin
Not that we're going to have one of course!

After all the anticipation the 18"s didn't arrive yesterday, got to wait 'til Friday now.   :'( :'(

For Friday now read Monday.  Some mix up over the credit card I'm told.  Nobody from Rochford contacted me until today which doesn't say much for their customer liaison.

Hi Malcolm, you can give Karma to any other member by clicking the word [applaud] under thier Karma points, it opens a dialogue box where you type the reason for the karma and click ok, thats it really.

It is basically there to give if someone has helped you out, made you laugh etc. There are no rules attached.

Hope that helps you.

Regards

Al

Hi Tiggerz

This is a previous post that I put in the members chat lounge and inspired me to start this reduce your fuel consumption thread.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I swapped my MK1 2.3i for a MK2 2.8 V6 (both automatics) I was prepared for higher fuel bills but as I do much lower mileage these days it didn't bother me overmuch.  I was surprised however to find that I was getting about 3mpg more out of the 2.8 than I did out of the 2.3.

Last week we went to Northampton to the theatre, about 50 miles round trip and I thought that I would try to drive as economically as possible.  I never exceeded  a speed limit and never went above 50 mph anywhere and I managed 32 mpg.  We were two up and carrying one 85kg powerchair.  I know that the diesels can do much better than this but I thought that it was pretty good for a V6.

When I spoke to other club members they agreed that the MK2s were more economical than MK1s and I did say in  a reply to "Newbie here" that I averaged 24 mpg over the 5 years that Ihad a MK1 but it never cost me anything in repairs other than servicing and consumables so I didn't think twice about getting another Galaxy.  Try putting some of these things into practice, if you don't already, and you might save some money as well as have a good laugh.  Glad you feel you've been entertained.  We do our best.   2thumbsup

Espaces DO pull the housewives?  Bed LOL       Is that how you got yours then?  How will you keep her now?

Cheers mate!

I had a punto when I pulled Mrs Tiggerz  Cry Laugh A 1.2SX BEAST of a car!

In my opinion, The espace III looks better, but in every otherway (but seat removal!) the galaxy is the better car!

And I have now owned both Wink
