Hi Techies!
Downloaded VCDS Release 17.8.0
All downloaded & installed... But when i do the port test... (COM3) is the only one where Port Status is ok,(which is good)
But it also says Interface not found.. so won't let me save it. Why is the Interface not found?
Also the cable  i have is not recognized by my Laptop (Windows 10)
Any bright Spark help out?
Not urgent, as my car is about to go to the vets for a couple of weeks... would just like to be able to connect my obd to check the rest of it when it comes back! Smiley
TIA
Skippy

Right, straight in with it...

Congratulations to Philip Appleyard, a member of Volvo Owners Club, for winning our August draw. Philip has won a Platinum Supercar Blast plus High-Speed Passenger Ride or Photo. He gets track time in his favourite new supercar (6 to choose from) at his choice from 8 locations nationwide.

Entrants qualified by requesting a car insurance quote during August (purchase not required).

ANOTHER CHRIS KNOTT COMPETITION
If you like the idea of winning one of our prizes we do have another competition running at the moment - the Chris Knott Virtual Show & Shine which has been going on all Summer on social media.

Simply post a pic of your car with the theme 'Shine' and we'll judge the winner after the closing date but be quick, the closing date is this Thursday!!

Post your pic on either our Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages and do these 3 things in the comments...

- @tag Chris Knott Insurance
- use hashtag #ShowShine2017
- @tag your club/forum

We'd love to see your cars!

All this is just a distraction of course - what we'd really like you to do is give us a call for a quote when your car insurance falls due.

QUOTELINE: 0800 917 2274 - please mention this forum to access our special club scheme

ONLINE: complete brief info - Chris Knott Callback Form

best,
Nick

I'm sure someone has posted a link to the Vagcom install, anyone know where it is!
Cheers Chaps!.
As an update on the Gearbox, the garage phoned me at 8am today (Monday), & offered to collect it straight away, but i need it on weds to take my mrs to hospital, so they're collecting it from my house on thursday!. They apologised, & said they'd get it sorted!
So hats off to them so far........
Best regards
Simon

Your best bet for installing this on a PC is to go on to Youtube and follow their videos.Only plug the lead in to the car and PC once installed correctly

Thanks S/F... i have a Vagcom lead & a cd, but not being techie, have no idea how to install it on my laptop, maybe someone might be able to talk me through it on a phone? (i'm in Willingham, Cambs)
If the garage can't help (they're ONLY a gearbox repair shop) then if  i can't find out what's going on.. i'll run it till next MOT, then p/x it in for another adapted car... it's probs my only option. Problem is money!!(or lack of it) needed this car to last 5 years to save up for another!!
Will certainly keep "in the loop". Just want a reliable car!! not much to ask! Came from a Jag, thinking Fords would be cheaper to run!!!.My S-type cost me just over £500 in service/repairs in 3 1/2 years!!! so far the Galaxy has cost £2350 (in repairs/service) in abour 4 months! + the £3300 purchase price!..Annoyed doesn't scratch the surface.
Thanks for the help
Best regards
Skippy

HOLY SHIT not good but it has always been a serious issue with the autoboxes on these Galaxys hence (joking aside) we keep telling people to avoid them as they are all now getting to be 11yrs old or more in these cars.So many of them have cost so many people a fortune and still let them down like yours.Problem you have now is is it an autobox issue or an issue with the engine management and autobox electrics. We have had a guy go down this path before and started changing the electronics but after what seemed a result once again let him down and eventually was scrapped.
What you need to do is get a vagcom lead and a laptop and scan your own car for error code.If there are any logged this may help suggest the next direction of action. What I will say is if the engine has an issue it will play havoc with the autobox changing gears so you need to be sure it isn't related to that.as said scan required. In the mean time keep your cool and speak to the garage who did the job and hopefully they will try sort it for you (assuming it is an autobox issue?) and then take it from there.
Try to keep us in the loop and where we can we will try help you as much as we can

Car had a g/box problem... (on here under "this is gonna hurt")... got it back after a £1650 bill....& 3 weeks without the car. Very reputable g/box repair company (A1 Gearboxes.. St Neots).Got it back on Thursday... crawled home in rush-hour traffic... seemed fine... Took it out today for a "run"... STILL THE F££&$ING same!.... "slips" into 3rd... goes into 1st fine... into 2nd fine.... 3rd... "slips" in (as if clutch is slipping) 4th goes in with a slight jolt, 5th engages normally.... if you persist with 3rd, & make it labour.... it goes into "limp" mode(clears when you switch off & re-start)... when you look in the engine bay, you can see that the g/box has been out (it's VERY shiny)... but what should i do?Left a message (they're shut for the weekend) & hopefully they'll call me back on Monday.... should i be ANGRY, calm, or what?... answers on a postcard..... Just so you know.... 2004 1.9 tdi 108000 miles, converted for powered-wheelchair access.. i paid £3300 (fair).. paid for a FULL overhaul (new belts/thermostat/water-pump etc) that cost £750(again fair... & was happy that i had a fully sorted converted car for £4k)... now £1650 for the g/box... car now owes me £5700, & is still f*cked... I have no work (i'm a full time carer), & now no savings left. Fair to say ... i'm slightly Pi$$ed off. Any (constructive & legal)advice welcomed
Best thingys
Skippy
