£500 is scrap money. If it has MOT you can still drive it in limp mode on school runs. With Vagcom and a laptop you could find out why it is in limp mode but usually as you say turbo related but if it is a genuinely new turbo fitted or proper refurbed one then it could just be vacuum pipe split.remember these cars where nearly £21k new so £500 is nothing. If you are handy with spanners I have no reason to think it couldn't be sorted for £500 whatever it is wrong

Hi new to the site and hunting for a Galaxy. To be honest having £1000 to spend I am not having much luck. I have seen a few head gasket failures brown water round the water tank and filled to the max with clear water. The only one I have come across that I am considering is one that was £1300 on Ebay. It is an 02 plate 178,000 miles and had this done: in the last 12 months its had new turbo, new clutch/fly wheel/slave cylinder, all 3 sections of front drive shafts replaced paper work present. Very tidy condition outside and good inside but when I went to view it was late and the battery was flat and he had no jump leads it is practically mint water tank nice and pink. He got a new battery the next day and called to say taken for a spin but it has gone into limp mode. It has been sat since December he doesn't want to spend any more money on it so has changed the ad to Spares repairs and £500. The ones I have seen are wrecks and no mention of anything major done like cambelt, clutch, turbo and around same mileage. Am I stupid in even thinking of getting this and sorting the limp mode I could get a obd reader and plug it in but looking around some people have real nightmares getting rid of limp mode although usually ends up being the turbo which this has been done. Any help appreciated I need a car asap for the missus to get kids to School really odd is that Every car is at least 60 miles from me so need to travel at least 1 hour to view and see that it is a complete wreck then head straight home.

The official line is to drain, flush then put PINK G12 in
The unofficial line is 1ltr mixed in a Galaxy won't cause an issue as it will be well diluted.
Have you got the antifreeze bottle because without it we will never know 100% what you have put in

I think you have mixed two different coloured G12 Anti freezes and now have a new colour.Remember the antifreeze circulates and will mix with old antifreeze.Put a photo of the antifreeze you used on and make 100% sure it is  G12

Hi peeps, this morning i opened the bonnet of the gal to top up some screenwash fluid. I noticed that the coolant expansion tank was dry. After it had the gearbox reconditioned i never had the chance to open the bonnet so i presume tje garage might have drained the coolant and forgot to top it up? Anyways, when i took the car from the garage it drives smooth like it should and the temp is normal and no overheating or whatsover. I had topped up the coolant the orange stuff (g12) about a litre  and after 30 miles i checked again and the level is still the same. What worries me is the coolant has changed colour like lighter pink or rusty . Is this bad ? Or i need to drain the cooling system and fill up again.
